Meet The Team

Mark J. McLaughlin

President/Executive Producer

Mark J. McLaughlin has spent 28 years handling over 500 heinous criminal cases as an Internal Affairs Investigator and Digital Forensic Expert, generating a wealth of stories that would envy any writer. He’s trained in SWAT tactics. His Juris Doctorate degree provides legal insight and a unique perspective to his storytelling. The 2024 IFC feature Skincare, starring Elizabeth Banks, was based on a criminal case that Mark investigated.

As a Writer / Producer / Director, Mark is a tenacious, versatile, creative talent whose projects span commercials, film, videos, and cable. He’s a proven leader of large business units with budgets exceeding $10MM. Maybe it’s in the genes! Mark’s father was an Emmy Winning television, film, and stage actor, and his mother was a writer’s assistant for over 35 years. It could be said he grew up in the industry by shadowing her around studio lots. An early glint of his talent came at the tender age of 12, writing a script for a CBS sitcom, and they bought it!

Mark is an accomplished airplane and helicopter pilot, avid sailor, and open-water diver. He’s married, loves golf and portrait photography, digs music, and resides in Los Angeles.

James L. Bills

Member, Producers Guild of America

James Bills grew up in south Texas, where he started directing 8mm films in his teens, with his first feature experience on the 1985 film “The Legend of Billie Jean”. His professional career launched in the early 90’s by working on commercials and studio features. In 2001, he moved to New Orleans and continued to write and produce music videos and commercials for projects including the “The Dukes of Hazzard” feature and unscripted “Gene Simmons Family Jewels.” But in 2005, James and his family endured the ravages of hurricane Katrina, where he contemporaneously documented the fury and aftermath of the storm. Then, James produced the feature documentary “Refuge of Last Resort”. His unique and heartbreaking footage was also seen in Spike Lee’s “When the Levees Broke”, as well as the U2/Greenday music video “The Saints are Coming”. After moving to Los Angeles, he continued to write, produce and direct feature films, while also been responsible for visual effects, set design, and editorial on dozens of studio features and network series. James is a member of The Producers Guild of America, and continues to aggressively pursue his creative ventures.
